Stacking & Loading Your Full Pallet

Full pallets allow taller loads, but proper stacking is essential for safe transit. Follow these guidelines for a smooth delivery.

Build a Stable Base

Place your heaviest and largest items at the bottom. Ensure the first layer is flat and covers the pallet evenly. An unstable base leads to leaning loads and potential damage in transit.

Interleave Layers

Place cardboard sheets between each layer to distribute weight and prevent items shifting. For tall loads, use corner boards running the full height of the stack for added rigidity.

Wrap Thoroughly

Full pallets need extra wrapping due to their height. Apply at least 5 layers of stretch film, working from bottom to top and back again. Wrap under the pallet base for maximum anchorage.

Important: Maximum Height Rule

The 1800mm maximum includes the pallet itself (typically 150mm). This means your goods can be stacked up to approximately 1650mm high. Any pallet exceeding 1800mm total may be reclassified as oversized and charged accordingly. Measure before you book.

Who Uses Full Pallets?

Full pallets are the backbone of UK commercial freight. These industries rely on them daily.

Warehousing & Distribution

Warehouse-to-warehouse stock transfers, distribution centre replenishment and third-party logistics operations. Full pallets maximise the cubic capacity of every vehicle movement.

Manufacturing

Raw material deliveries, finished goods dispatch and inter-factory transfers. Manufacturers use full pallets to move bulk quantities efficiently between production sites and customers.

Retail & Wholesale

Seasonal stock builds, large wholesale orders and store fit-outs. When you're shipping hundreds of units, a full pallet is the most cost-effective way to move goods.

Construction & Trades

Building materials, tools, fixings and equipment for construction sites. Full pallets handle the heavy, bulky items that the building trade needs delivered reliably.

Exhibitions & Events

Exhibition stands, display equipment, promotional materials and product samples. Full pallets carry everything you need for a trade show in a single, trackable consignment.

Furniture & Home Goods

Flat-pack furniture, kitchen units, bathroom suites and large appliances. The 1800mm height accommodates tall boxes and upright items that won't fit on a half pallet.

FAQ

Full Pallet FAQs

Common questions about full pallet specifications, pricing and when to upgrade from a half pallet.

A full pallet uses a 1200×1000mm base (the standard UK pallet) and allows up to 1800mm total height including the pallet itself. A half pallet uses a 1200×800mm euro pallet base with a maximum of 900mm goods height. Full pallets are non-stackable in the network, which is why they cost more, but they give you significantly more usable space.

Yes. If your load on a 1200×800mm euro pallet exceeds 900mm goods height or 500 kg, it will be classified as a full pallet for pricing purposes. The full pallet category covers both 1200×1000mm and 1200×800mm pallets that exceed half pallet dimensions.

Pallets exceeding 1800mm total height are classified as oversized and priced accordingly. Our oversized pallet service handles items up to 2200mm in height. Get an instant quote or contact us for bespoke pricing.

Yes, we deliver full pallets to residential addresses across the UK. Tail-lift vehicles are used as standard for residential drops. Please note that very heavy full pallets (over 500 kg) may require a pump truck at the delivery point. The driver will lower the pallet to kerbside.

In most cases, a single full pallet is cheaper than two separate half pallets. If your goods can be consolidated onto one full pallet without exceeding the 1000 kg weight limit, you'll save on both the delivery cost and the hassle of managing two consignments. Use our instant quote tool to compare both options.
